I'm Lauren Chan, a Leo who enjoys long walks on the beach, and—oops, wrong profile!
...What I meant to say was that I'm a plus-size model with Ford Models in New York, a freelance writer, and an Internet addict. Published work can be found at lchan.tumblr.com.
I'm on a mission to prove that the size of your success isn't measured in inches.

“When my husband was dying, I said: ‘Moe, how am I supposed to live without you?’ He told me: ‘Take the love you have for me and spread it around.’”
“I work at the UN. I study happiness, actually.”
“So what’s happiness then?”

Ellen addresses Abercrombie & Fitch’s recent decision to cut sizing at a 10. Her points get a little misworded (ie. just because you’re plus size doesn’t mean you binge eat double-stuffed Oreo’s…), but her message is a strong one! Go, Ellen!

Here’s some awesome music for your weekend—in case you wanted to live it up, Gatsby style.

It’s almost the time of year to break out your swimwear! Check out last summer’s Fashionista feature about how to pose in a swimsuit featuring tips from models including myself, VS Angel Erin Heatherton, Chrissy Teigen, and more!
“‘Bikini season’ has terrified women for generations. But today’s women have an even scarier phenomenon to worry about: Bikini photo season. Because while swimsuit season only lasts a couple of months, that photo of you chowing down on a hotdog in your bikini at your friend’s barbecue lives forever. Okay, so maybe it’s a little bit vain to be so worried–but c’mon, everyone has to admit to feeling a little bummed when you see that a completely unflattering picture has just been tagged to your Facebook profile or Instagram’d or tweeted or pinned or whatever the next thing will be. So, to make things a little easier on you this summer, we asked the bikini posing professionals–yep, models–to give us some pointers on how we can score an oh-so-flattering swimsuit photo.”
My name is Brandon Stanton and I’m a photographer in New York City. As many of you already know, several months ago I was approached by the fashion label DKNY, who offered me $15,000 to purchase 300 of my photographs. I politely refused the offer. But earlier this week, one of my fans discovered that DKNY was using my photographs anyway— in Asia. (Full Story:http://thebea.st/13ijYt6)
As atonement for this infringement, I publicly requested that DKNY donate $100,000 in my name to the YMCA in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, so that underprivileged children could attend summer camp. DKNY responded on Monday with a $25,000 donation.
Over the next three days, my audience stepped in and raised the full $100,000 themselves. Over 3,000 people chipped in, and raised an astonishing $103,710 in 72 hours. (http://bit.ly/YTy4h3)
I have no interest in vilifying DKNY. It is a company composed of thousands of good people. The founder, Donna Karan, is highly respected around the world for both her creativity and philanthropy.
But I would appreciate if you would REBLOG this post, and lend your voice to my request that DKNY raise their donation to match the $103,710 that we raised.
Together, we could create a $208,000 investment in the lives of children in one of New York’s most vital and diverse neighborhoods. Thank you so much.
Here’s some new music from my friends, @DOWNWITHWEBSTER. It comes with full permission to jump up and down and sing a long.
Check out this awesome (but kind of blurry) video interview of my lovely friend, Sophie, on Australia’s Today Tonight TV.
